A Bump on the Inside of Your Head

Sometimes I am asked how we explain to Catherine what a brain tumor is. We just tell her she has a tumor in her brain and the chemo will get rid of it. I recently found this explanation, which I think is great:

“Sometimes when kids fall down they get a bump on their knee or their elbow. Well you have a bump on the inside of her head. The doctors want to make that bump go away so they might try to take the bump out or they might try to shrink the bump with some special medicine.”

Catherine will tell people "the tumor went bye bye." It is a simplistic statement, but it also accurately summarizes what has happened over the last two years.

Thank you God that Catherine's tumor went BYE-BYE. Our prayer is that it stays bye-bye. Carole & family
