Playing School

The girls love to do pseudo art projects. It is quite a challenge for me to think of projects that challenge & entertain them with the supplies I had on hand. A few days ago I cut up paper scraps into triangles and they made a collage of them.

I never know if my ideas work for the girls, but I think this one did. Catherine asked if we could do rectangles next, which we did. Then she asked for circles, but I was not about to cut out a zillion circles. I did give them a sheet of circular stickers and drew a big circle on the page. I had them place the stickers in a circle on the line.

Besides just entertaining the girls, I am hoping that Sabrina learns her shapes and Catherine improves her fine motor skills.

We also made lots of sticker posters - with letters, animals, etc.

I originally tried to give Sabrina easier projects than Catherine, because Sabrina is only two. But she fussed and screamed that she wanted to do the "same as Catherine." So I obliged her, but had to help her with her projects. She actually knew about 10 of the letters, which I guess is good for a 2 year old.
