So I was pleased to see that they had an indoor skating rink at Ober Gatlinburg when we were there a few weeks ago. I was not sure if I could still skate, but I found that I still had the balance and technique. I was a clockwise rotater, which means that my landing foot is my left foot for jumps. I have lost all the strength I once had in my left ankle - I didn't even feel strong enough to try a half jump! I could still spin, although my speed is really slow.
I was so proud of Robby, who risked almost certain injury to skate with me:

We tried to have the girls skate with us, but they both freaked out on the skates. I guess it is very scary to be unable to trust your feet and not be able to stand. So, they sat by the boards and colored while we skated:

I could almost complete a figure eight (doesn't that tell you something about how long ago I skated - they don't even include figures in competition anymore).

wow, a neat fact about you I didn't know. Cool! You guys look great skating together. I can't believe the girls just sat there and watched and colored. That is great!
Wow. I used to ice skate too. Not as much as you but I did it for about a year. I fractured my arm a week before my 1st beginner's competition and never went back. In college, I still loved to spin and spin and spin. No way in the world can I do that now. Ahh nostalgia.
