Urodynamics Study

Catherine had fun in the waiting room!

A few weeks ago (I know, I am behind in my blogging) I took Catherine tin for a urodyanmics study to see how her kidneys and bladder are working (or not). The results were mixed - she had no more kidney or bladder reflux, so her infections and nausea should really reduce. She did grunt and complain when her bladder was full, so we can surmise that she has viable nerves in that area of her body (a common side effect if spinal tumors and chemo is damage to internal nerves). The only bad news is that her bladder only seemed to hold about 3 and a half ounces. She should hold 8 ounces of liquid.

We have wanted to start potty training her, but if she is not physically able to control her elimination, I don't want to set her and us up for frustration. The doctor said that potty training her right now will be really tough because her bladder is the size of an 18 month old's. The doctor's decision is to wait a year and retest her.

This test lasted about 45 minutes, so we brought in a DVD (of princess stories) for Catherine to watch.
