Removal of Wall

Before we even bought our house, we knew we wanted to combine the "den" and the "formal living room." Finally, a few weeks ago, we removed the old wall and hired a contractor to put a beam up and finish the new wall. We created a fourteen foot opening on a load bearing wall, so we had to hire a structural engineer to decide what size beam to use. Plus, they ran a column all the way to the basement.

Demolition is much messier than I thought - there was dust and debris everywhere!

We also had all the windows in our toy room double paned to help keep the cold weather out - I had to paint all the trim.
