Scottish Rite has started a new program for children with cancer called "Beads of Courage." The child gets a bead for everything that happens - the colors mean different things. Black is for a finger prick or port access, blue is for a chemo office visit, red is for a blood transfusion, star shaped is for surgeries, etc. I cannot remember all the different colors, but Catherine has gotten beads for ER visits, fevers,
MRI's, etc.
Catherine is on her second necklace already. I was pretty impressed that she had the small motor skills to be able to string the beads herself.
