The latest news is that her blood count, etc. numbers were OK for surgery today. So, the oncologist wanted to do the surgery tomorrow but the surgeon is unavailable. The surgeon’s office suggested we do another four week round of chemo and then try the surgery again in five weeks. Robby begged and the surgeon has agreed to do the surgery on Saturday, assuming he can arrange for OR time on a weekend. We did not get chemo today, because that would have just lowered her numbers again. So, it is unusual, but we are hoping to do the surgery on Saturday morning at Egleston.
The surgery has been planned and cancelled twice in the last 2 weeks – once because her platelets were too low and once because the ratio between her white blood cells and her red blood cells was bad. We really want to fix this kidney problem, because one of her kidneys takes 18 minutes to drain so she is storing urine much too long. We think it is possible she has had low grade kidney or urinary tract infections all the time and that may be contributing to her nausea. So, let’s pray that this can be fixed on Saturday.
