Sleeping Ugly

My girls love fairy tales, so I got this chapter book - which puts a big twist on things!  Jane Yolen has written a fast paced, cute story which really made the girls think about the plots and characters of fairy tales.

The book is about a beautiful, yet mean princess.  There is another girl in the country who is sweet, but physically ugly.  A lot of elements from various fairy tales are incorporated in this story.  We just read it for fun, but it would be interesting to do some comparisons with this book and other fairy tales. 

This is an easy read and we were able to read it in one sitting.  But, I don't think a boy would appreciate it.
