Building a Fire Boat

We are always looking for inexpensive ways to entertain the girls and we have been very happy with the Home Depot FREE kids' workshops. Most stores only do them on the first Saturday of the month, but the HD off Paces Ferry Road has them twice a month. They are also considerably more organized than other ones we have attended.

This last weekend was extra special because it was "Fire Prevention Week" or something like that. Home Depot set up the workshop outside in the parking lot (the weather was incredible) and had cotton candy, popcorn, a bounce house, and a big firetruck.

The kids built a fire boat and then got to climb into the real firetruck. Sabrina of course loved the snacks and they both loved the bounce house.

The girls' woodworking skills have really improved since we have attended these workshops. Both have learned how to use a hammer and can almost hammer a nail in by themselves.

Sabrina and her finished projects (they love it when the projects contain stickers!).

I wasn't sure if they would understand what a "fire boat" was, but Catherine demonstrated how her boat can swim:
